Laboratory of Informatics

THE ICT LAB

The Informatics Laboratory of the Department of Primary Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens was established in 1996 (General Assembly 21-10-92, Presidential Decree 14/96, Government Gazette 8/18-1-96). There are three laboratory rooms located in 13a Navarinou Street, in Marasleio, and at 31 Ippokratous Street. The Laboratory's mission entails: a) advancing research on Information and Communication Technologies in Education, b) fulfilling the teaching requirements of the Department at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, c) collaborating with other academic or research institutions and scientific organizations, both nationally and internationally, and d) organizing training programs, seminars, lectures, symposia, and conferences, in addition to publishing papers and books.

In recent years, the Laboratory has concentrated its research and instructional endeavors on the potential and pedagogical use of Emerging Technologies in Education through its new equipment, including:

  • Augmented and Mixed Reality
  • Drones and Aerial Robotics
  • 3D Printing
  • Wearable Technologies, particularly smart glasses for Augmented and Mixed Reality.
