The Informatics Laboratory of the Department of Primary Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens was established in 1996 (General Assembly 21-10-92, Presidential Decree 14/96, Government Gazette 8/18-1-96). It has three laboratory rooms located at 13a Navarinou Street, at the Marasleio School, as well as at 31 Ippokratous Street. The mission of the Laboratory includes, among other things: a) the promotion of research in areas related to Information and Communication Technologies in Education, b) covering the teaching needs of the Department at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, c) collaboration with other academic or research institutions or scientific bodies, domestically or internationally, and d) organizing training sessions, seminars, lectures, symposiums, and conferences, as well as producing publications and editions.
In recent years, the Laboratory, through its new equipment, has focused its research and teaching activities on the potential and pedagogical applications of Emerging Technologies in Education, such as:
- Augmented and Mixed Reality
- Drones and Aerial Robotics
- 3D Printing
- Wearable Technologies with a focus on smart Augmented and Mixed Reality glasses.
